Primary Purpose:
Provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop/modify curriculum and prepare lessons to student ability levels. Work as a reading specialist for special education students.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for grades 4-8
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work with children with disabilities
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively
Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area
Knowledge of Admission, Review, Dismissal(ARD) Committee and Individual Education Plans IEP
Experience:
Two years of experience working with special education students
Duties/Responsibilities
Collaborate with students, parents and other staff members to develop IEP’s through the ARD committee process for each student assigned
Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to include students in regular classroom
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies that reflect an understanding of the needs of assigned students.

Provide hearing impaired students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Work in self-contained, team, departmental or itinerant capacity as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special educational endorsements for assignments
